Emergencies/Consultations

If you are in need of a dentist, are experiencing a dental emergency, need a second opinion, or have any dental concern at all, please give our office a call today. We will gladly schedule a time for you to meet the doctor to assess your dental needs.

Dental Cleanings

Routine dental cleanings by a dental professional are a necessary part of maintaining our best overall health. Our hygienists not only remove hardened deposits from your teeth and below your gumline that you are not able to remove with regular brushing, but they also educate you on the best oral hygiene habits and techniques in order that your teeth may last a lifetime.

Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal disease is a chronic infection that affects the the gums and bone which supports the surrounding tooth.  It can ultimately lead to tooth loss if not caught onto early and treated properly. Here at Cape Cod Restorative Dentistry, we are well equipped to treat your condition in order to prevent further damage and so you can keep your natural teeth as long as possible.

Bonding

Cosmetic dentistry can restore broken or decayed teeth to full beauty and function. One of the easiest and least expensive ways of doing this is with dental bonding.

Bonding uses tooth colored materials to replace missing tooth structure or hide unappealing defects in a tooth such as chips, discoloration, and even minor spacing irregularities. Tooth bonding can usually be accomplished with a single visit to the dental office. When bonding is done with a skilled hand and an artistic eye, it may be impossible to distinguish the bonded tooth from its neighbors. Bonding also does not require the involvement of a dental laboratory and can sometimes be done without anesthesia or drilling of the tooth.

Fillings

Much similar to bonding, fillings do just what the name implies – fills a small hole in your tooth from a cavity caused by decay. This prevents the decay, (a bacteria-induced infection) from spreading further into your tooth and reaching the pulp (or nerve of the tooth) which can not only be very painful but can also pose a great risk to your health. Should that happen, you will require root canal treatment.

There are a variety of different materials used to fill teeth, both traditional materials and holistic materials, both of which our office uses. Some fillings can be done without the need of anesthetic, and others are deeper requiring the need of anesthetic so that you don’t feel any discomfort while removing the decay.  Regardless the choice is always yours, and we have both traditional and biosafe anesthetic on hand if needed.

Bisphenol – commonly known as BPA is a chemical often found in composite based resins which has caused considerable concern among scientists due to its ability to mimic the hormone estrogen.  Many controversial studies have been done that link several diseases with Bisphenol – A including diabetes, prostate and breast cancer, a compromised immune system, and brain deficiency in infants and newborns. Here at Cape Cod Restorative Dentistry, we offer Bisphenol – A free composite for patients who prefer to take the holistic approach to their dental needs.

Porcelain Veneers

What makes a smile beautiful? Good tooth color, shape and alignment are just a few of the most important ones. If your teeth could use improvement in any of these categories, porcelain veneers could be just what you’re looking for.

You may already know that a veneer is a thin covering over another surface. In dentistry, a veneer is a very thin layer of porcelain that substitutes for natural tooth enamel. When bonded to your own teeth, veneers can create an extremely natural-looking, beautiful new smile. Veneers can be made so thin that they can sometimes be bonded directly onto your existing tooth surface. In other cases, a very thin layer of tooth enamel - as thin as the veneer itself - needs to be removed to fit the new porcelain surface and make it look as lifelike as possible. Either way, the results are remarkable and sure to make you smile.

Metal Free Crowns & Bridges

For those patients who practice a holistic lifestyle and want to keep their bodies as pure as they were intended to be, we also offer metal free crown and bridge restorations.  No longer do you need to worry about the obvious dark lines that often appear on the gum line of older crowns and bridges because they will contain virtually no metal.  Instead we use stronger, much more esthetic materials such as ceramic or zirconium. Just as strong as traditional crowns and bridges which are made out of alloys and other precious metals, our ceramic and zirconium crowns are metal free, more translucent, much more life – like and have become the preferred patient and dentist choice universally when fabricating these type of restorations.

Dental Implants

Of all the ways modern dentistry has to replace missing teeth, dental implants are by far the best option. There is no tooth replacement option that will give you a longer-lasting and stable result. They are used to replace a single missing tooth or many missing teeth.  Implants also help preserve tooth supporting bone that naturally deteriorates when a tooth is lost. Loss of bone is one of the major hidden consequences of losing teeth.

A dental implant most often is a small, screw-shaped titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. The surgical procedure used to place an implant is actually quite minor and routine, requiring only local anesthesia in most cases. After a healing period, the implant is topped with a lifelike crown custom made to match your existing natural teeth. Implants have a documented success rate of over 95%, which is significantly higher than any other tooth-replacement option.

During a minor surgical procedure, your dental implant is inserted directly into the space where the tooth (or teeth) are missing. It will then be left to heal for a period before the final crown is attached. During this healing period, the implant actually fuses to the bone surrounding it. Once the crown is attached to the implant, it has now become like a brand new natural tooth however it is no longer susceptible to decay as our natural teeth are.

Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Shemanyuk and her team also extend their services to pediatric patients; they are actually our favorite visitors!  We can take care of all of your child’s dental needs right here in office, without the hassle of dealing with patient referrals or having to start anew somewhere else.  Some of our child friendly services include dental cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatment, simple restorations, and tooth extractions.  From toddlers through to their adult years, we can help your child keep a happy and healthy smile throughout all the different stages of their life.  Please give us a call today to set up a dental visit!

Did we mention that each of our new pediatric patients will receive a free electric toothbrush upon their first visit!

Root Canals/Endodontic Therapy

Have you ever had a toothache so bad that it kept you up at night? That you couldn't even touch the tooth with anything let alone chew food? This could be a sign that you have an infected tooth and may need to have root canal treatment done. A root canal treatment is recommended when decay (a bacteria induced infection) reaches the pulp (nerve) of the tooth and the pulp becomes infected. The only way  to stop the pain that you experience is to either extract the tooth or remove its nerve, fill it with a rubber like material. and then fabricate a crown to give the tooth full coverage and protection after treatment. The doctor will take an xray and determine if in fact you need a root canal treatment or if there is a much minor remedy to your symptoms.

Night Guards/Occlusal Appliances

We live in a very high demand, fast paced day and age which creates the perfect brew for a stressful world! Stress is just one factor that can lead to us grinding (bruxism) or clenching our teeth, which in turn causes damage to the chewing surfaces and to our teeth as a whole. There are several options available that can help manage these subconscious habits and that can help to protect us from casing further damage to our teeth. A night guard or occlusal appliance are some of the most highly recommended appliances due to their success rate in minimizing these habits and creating a layer of protection for our teeth. Your dentist will take an impression of both the upper and lower arches of your mouth and fabricate a customized appliance that she will advise you to wear either overnight, during the day, or sometimes both. Each individual is different; your dentist will determine the best route for you.

Sleep Apnea Treatment

Many people suffer from different forms of sleep apnea. In fact there are over 3 million people diagnosed each year with the condition in the United States.  Sleep apnea is a very dangerous sleep disorder that causes your throat's muscle to over relax and one to stop breathing many times throughout a night's sleep cycle. Just a few of the symptoms of sleep apnea can include heavy breathing while sleeping, very loud snoring, restless sleep. It can be treated by your dental professional through an appliance made to move that muscle so that your airway is clear and you can breathe regularly throughout sleep.

Botox

Botox has been the leading non-surgical anti-aging treatment since it was introduced on the market, and with good cause. Botox is the single most effective method used to eliminate wrinkles around the eyes, crow’s feet, vertical wrinkles on the forehead between the eyebrows, as well as those around and in the corners of the eyes. These lines appear gradually over time. Additionally, Botox can aid with symptoms of jaw pain, headaches, and facial pain and is FDA approved to treat several other diseases, including migraines and excessive sweating problems.

How does it work?

When injected directly into a muscle in approved doses by a specially trained physician, this substance temporarily relaxes the muscle long term, preventing it from stiffening, causing the wrinkles and expression lines on your face to diminish. Botox can be used as a prevention method in younger people for anti-aging effects, or in older people who wish to achieve a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

Is Botox permanent?

Botox effects are not permanent and begin to fade away in a few months. Once you start to notice wrinkles reappearing and see that the effects of the Botox have worn off, you can easily call to schedule another injection in order to look fresh and young again. Effects of Botox treatment for the eyes or face last for up to 3 to 4 months.

Tooth Extraction

Do you have a tooth that needs to be extracted but you are anxious about it? Well you have chosen the right place! One of Dr. Shemanyuk's areas of expertise are surgical extractions, and this includes some wisdom tooth extractions as well. Of course it is our preference to save as many teeth as you are able to, however if the time ever comes that you are unable to do so, we can make your surgical experience as pleasant as one can be.

Complete and Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are made when you have lost more than one of your teeth and would like to replace them with a removeable appliance. Often times people will choose to have partial dentures made when they are missing several of their back teeth but still have most of their own teeth present, or vice versa. Complete dentures are made when one has lost or is expected to lose all of their own natural teeth and want to replace them with a full set of denture teeth. Both options are helpful in not only filling their smile, but more importantly to assure that the patient is able to eat, chew, and digest food regularly again. There is a variety of removeable denture options available today, please consult with our office to discuss which is the best for you.
